THE REALITY OF MUSIC

Handbill

In this concert titled "The Reality of Music," I bring to you classical music as way back as the baroque period (1600 - 1900). Featuring selected arias from the works of one of the greatest composers of the baroque era, George Frederick Handel (1685 - 1759). The essence of classical music to me is an offering, a way to connect with the Almighty, in whatever form we perceive it. Through classical music I have felt more connected to myself, to other people, to nature and to God. Music is a language spoken by all of creation and that is the Real strength of it, to me. Even if I sing in an empty building, I feel there is someone listening. One of the most outstanding characteristics of classical music which differentiate it from other genres of music is that, the repertoire tends to be written down in musical notation, creating a musical part or score. This musical notation is used by composers to prescribe to the performer the pitch, speed, meter, individual rhythms and exact execution of a piece of music. This leaves less room for practices such as improvisation and ad libitum ornamentation, which are frequently heard in modern music. The written quality of the work preserves it and enables it to be passed on from generation to generation.

Whether you are a musician or someone who just enjoys listening to music, I would ask you to look deeper into the value and effect of music as it relates to you. Is there a subtle connection, a unique way of expressing your inner world, or just a feeling you can't put words to? Watch out as I bring to you The Reality of Music!!!
